Expert Drain Cleaning & Repair Service
If you own a home, sooner or later, your kitchen or bathroom drains will inevitably drain slower than usual, or won’t drain at all. This happens when your drain is clogged or damaged. A clogged drain, when left unattended, might cause flooding in your home. Therefore, you will want to clear a clogged drain as soon as you are aware of it. Black Diamond’s expert plumbers can unclog or repair any drain in your home so that it drains properly.

If only one drain in the house is clogged such as the toilet or the bathroom sink while drains in other areas such as the kitchen and another bathroom are draining smoothly, then most likely only the drain pipe in that toilet or that sink is clogged. There are a couple of things you can do yourself to unclog that toilet or sink.
DIY to Unclog Drains
If there is standing water in the toilet or sink, you can use a plunger to try to unclog it first. For the bathroom sink, remember to plug the overflow hole in the sink with your hand or a flat rubber surface first. Use four or five rapid thrusts with the plunger at a time. Repeat the process several times. If you’re successful, you’ll see the water drain away quickly.

If the plunger is not working particularly well, you might wish to use a drain cleaner to clear a sink clog for the next step. There are commercial drain cleaning solutions you can purchase from most grocery stores, Walmart, Target, and hardware stores. Follow the directions on the product to clean your drain. Or you can mix your own solutions. Vinegar and lemon juice work well on clogged drains. Borax, baking soda, and even salt can be mixed in for extra potency. Please be careful with drain cleaning solutions on your eyes and skin. Eye protection and rubber gloves are highly recommended. Pour a half cup of Borax, baking powder or salt into the drain first, and then pour enough vinegar or lemon juice into the drain. Then cover the sink-hole with a cloth for about 15-30 minutes. Run very hot water into the drain for a couple of minutes. Then repeat the process at least one more time. This method should clear many typical clogs. If drain cleaners don’t work to unclog your drain, you should call in the professionals from Black Diamond Experts. Also please consider the risks of using a drain cleaner. Many drain cleaners use chemicals that can erode your pipes. Having to re-pipe your home is much more expensive than fixing a simple clog.
Time to Call in the Drain Cleaning Experts
Not every drain clog can be fixed with a plunger or drain cleaning solutions. Sometimes, the drain pipe might be filled with hair, grease, food waste, or worse yet, household items like toys or even your wedding ring. For these difficult clogs, professional plumber and drain clearing tools are needed such as an auger, drain camera, or even a hydro-jetter. An auger is a tool that a plumber uses to snake a drain. A drain camera allows a plumber to see through video feed the actual obstruction far inside the drain pipe. This visual examination helps the plumber determine the correct solution to clear that clog. A hydro-jetter is a powerful compressor machine that shoots a highly pressurized stream of water through the drain pipe to clear the most stubborn clog and overgrown roots. A hot hydro-jetter shoots a stream of 120-degree hot water (instead of cold water from typical jetters) that can clean out more thoroughly the inside wall of the pipe, which will prevent future clogging.
